Privacy Policy — WineSight

WineSight is a wine recommendation app published by Nørdefabrikken (Norway). This policy

explains what the app does with your data. It is short because the app collects very little.

No account, no tracking

WineSight has no sign-up, no login and no user accounts. We do not collect your name, email address

or phone number. We do not use advertising identifiers, analytics SDKs or third-party trackers, and

we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Your wine profile — preferred wine types, favourite wines, grapes, regions, sweetness, body,

occasions, budget, saved wines, wines you marked "Not for me", and any API key you enter — is stored

only on your device. It is never uploaded to us. Deleting the app deletes all of it.

When you tap Scan, the app sends the following to our service:

the photos you selected
the scan settings you chose (wine types, occasion, price limit, any extra instructions)
the parts of your taste profile you chose to include, and the wines you marked "Not for me"
a random device identifier, generated by the app, used only to count your monthly scans

This data is processed by Amazon Web Services in Frankfurt, Germany (EU), where an AI model

analyses the photos and returns recommendations. No data is sent anywhere else.

To measure and improve the quality of recommendations, we store the photos from a scan together with

the settings above and the AI's answer for up to 90 days, after which they are deleted

automatically. This material is kept in private, encrypted storage, is not shared or sold, and is

used only to test and improve WineSight.

Please avoid photographing people or anything sensitive. The app is meant for photographing shop

shelves.

The random identifier the app generates is not linked to you, your Apple ID or your device's

hardware identifiers. We use it only to enforce the monthly free-scan limit. Deleting and

reinstalling the app creates a new identifier.

If you enter your own Google Gemini or OpenAI API key under Profile → AI settings, scans go directly

from your phone to that provider and never touch our service. In that case only that provider's own

privacy terms apply, and no scan data is stored by us.

WineSight is about alcoholic beverages and is not intended for children.

Since scans are not linked to an identifiable person, we normally cannot locate specific data about

you. If you have made a scan and want it deleted before the 90 days are up, contact us with the

approximate time of the scan and we will do our best to find and delete it.

We may update this policy. The date at the top always shows the current version.
